Final Post

So...this is it? This is my final blog post, other than my project, that I will be graded on. I may occasionally return to update other happenings in my life. Overall, I have really enjoyed this class. I love figuring things out, and the new computers were certainly a challenge for me. It was great fun doing all of the creative projects like the vocal podcast and especially the projects in iMovie. I think I'll really miss working on some of these cool projects. I ove making slideshows and music videos at home, and I cannot wait to continue those now! I used to mess with computers al the time, but now, I'm very happy to say that I am fascinated once more.

My 2nd Christmas

Winter

I LOVE Winter! It is one of my most favorite seasons. Coats, jeans, sweaters, and hoodies are all articles of clothing which I enjoy very, vey much. Winter also brings about a whole new round of community theatre in which my involvement is always an extreme pleasure. Every year I continue to make more and more friends and they all are a part of who I am today. Snow is also an extra bonus of the winter season. Who doesn't like catching snowflakes, or waking up to find the land glistening with a thick blanket of stark white snow?

Newscast?

This is going to look really pathetic and embarrassing...but I don't really have a newscast as of yet. I guess I was not present when people chose groups, because I was left without one. I have considered doing one on my own, but I'm not sure. I keep meaning to talk to Mrs. Brown, but I have been revising my iMovie thing right now. My apologies! I hope to have this issue cleared up very soon.

Thankful

What am I most thankful for? I honestly have a lot of things to be greatful for. I have a working body, a roof over my head, a great education, amazing friends, and a wonderful family. Live cannot get a whole lot better than that. Some people do not realize how good they have it. Some people like to play the victim in daily life which really makes me upset. I mean sure, we all will have heath issues, family problems, and conflicts in our life. It is our job descriptions as humans to not have a perfect life, that is where Heaven comes in. I guess I am just thankful to be alive.

Invention

I have no idea what kind of invention i would make. If given more time I could probably come up with something really creative, but as of now, i think the best thing I could come up with is some sort of transportation device. Something like a 'teleporter' I guess. Whatever it is, I would hope it would use less energy than cars buzzing around and polluting the environment, and work faster. That would just be so much fun!

Cartoon

I hate politics, so I son't really think it is fair to put students on the spot and ask them to post a political cartoon for all to see.
I guess this cartoon is funny because Palin somehow thinks that she is going to run for president, and there is no way she will get past primaries. Please no comments.

Personal Choice Blog

I think that everyone who reads this should try and come to the PND Fall Play: Our Town. It is a great production, not to mention that my two best friends are the leads. It runs a little long, but I think that time goes by really quickly because it becomes incredibly easy to find oneself lost in the little town of Grovers Corners where this stunning play is set, cerca 1904.

Photo

I really like this photo. I think is is a great example of that sometimes not following the crowd is a good thing.

Movie? Why?

I loved doing the podcast about my favorite scary movie! Anyone who knows me basically knows that I love Sweeney Todd, both the movie and stage show. I really liked doing the podcast because it gave me a chance to express one of my passions. It was also fun to put in the music from the movie as the background instead of some other music or jingle. I think I did very well on it.

Podcast Movie

I am really enjoying this podcast assignment. I think it is really neat that we get to do something so very creative, especially around Halloween! Even though it started out as a scary movie project, and I think it should have stayed that way regardless of students complaints, it was kind of whatever one wanted to do. I stuck with not so much a 'scary' movie, but a dark one with suspense and gore. As anyone who is following this blog can plainly see, I LOVE Sweeney:Todd. I think I have managed to weasel it into as many topics as possible while still following instructions. Obviously, I chose this for my podcast, so here is a brief video of the trailer. Happy viewing!

Big or Small

I have experienced many things in my short life, and they all make me who I am today. One of the moments that impacted me the most was going to downtown Chicago for the first time. This may not seem very important, but it had a huge impasct on me because it showed me how big the world can be, how small we are as people, but also how influencial a small person can be in the big world. It takes only one acorn to make a giant oak tree, a single spark to cause a wildfire. Everyone in this world came from nothing. If others can make a difference in the world, why can't I? Why can't you? Think about it.

Report Card

I feel rather well about my report card. I moved up in most of my classes, but there are a few in which i stayed the same. Church History is my best subject, I have an A+. My worst class is probably Spanish, but even that is not too bad. Geometry is one or the harder classes for me. I just have trouble wrapping my head around some of those problems, but I usually get it in the long run. One of my favorites (besides Computers, of course) is American Literature (H). Writing is my passion and i really enjoy taking notes on the lectures more than anything, but that does not happen very often. I also enjoy writing the five paragraph essays.

10 Important Things to do Before I Die

1. Publish a book (or hopefully several)
2. Write a screenplay (for film)
3. Act in said film
4. Meet Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter
5. Repay my parents for all they have done for me
6. Make a real and distinct difference in a single person's life
7. Make a distinct difference in the world
8. Be in at least one community production of "Sweeney Todd" (preferably as Mrs. Lovett or Johanna)
9. Find my soulmate
10. Do what God put me here to do, and not just what I want to do

I chose the older looking Peoria logo. This one, of course, is not as modern as the others look. In fact, it does not look modern at all. Peoria is not exactly a modern city though. it is a more historical are and we should be proud of such a great past. I like that it was different from all of the other ones and I think it has an air about it that the others did not. This one seemed like is was, for lack of better words, wise, and knew more than the newer looking ones.

oooOOOOOoooo Halloween!

Halloween in one of my most favorite holidays. i don't care too much for the deep, dark, gory side, but I LOVE the costumes and candy and the slight fear of everything that goes 'bump' in the night. This year is going to be my best year of all as far as costumes go. i am dressing as Mrs. Lovett from the screen version of Sonheim's thriller-musical "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street". I saw the movie last December and was immediately hooked, and then I was fortunate enough to be able to see the national tour of the stage version at the Cadillac Palace Theater in Chicago this past April. I had planned to make the costume myself, but I was in a time crunch, so I turned to eBay. We found this amazing person who we msent my exact measurements to and he is custom making a fantastic costume for me! It is just like the movie dress and I 'Lovett'! Sorry for the poor pun...

iPhoto

Well...progress is going well! I really am enjoying this project! My only trouble as of now is my camera, or lack thereof, because on homecoming I dropped it and broke it. Way to go Alicia... Anyway everything else is going great. All of the pictures for my name are there, all I really need are some more pitures of my inrerests, and then I just have to pick out a song!

Speaking of songs, I was just cast as Bet in 'Oliver!' at CCT (who wants to help me sell the most tickets?). The video that I have posted below is one of my favorite songs. It involves Doger (boy in top hat) and Oliver (tattered clothes) professing loyalty to Nancy (red dress)and Bet (cream/green dress). It promises to be a fantastic production! Ask me about it!

Project Progress

The project is going ok with my group. One of our members has been sick for two days, one hasn't even talked to me, and I cannot figure out how to change the colors on the newsletter template. Well...I guess it isn't going that well afterall. I really work best on my own, and while I appreciate being able to work in groups, it just does nothing for the overall grade on my part. I think my writing portion went well, but as for the others, I cannot really say.

oh well...

p.s.- I commented on Kate Carroll's blog :)

Physical

My main physical goal this year is just to get out there and do something. I am really busy, so finding extrea time to do anything is quite rare for me. Seeing as i am not very coordinated, it may be better that I do something outside of a team. I work best on my own, and I always have. I think running or even just walking may be a good thing for me, and mornings would probably be the best time.

Newsletter

I think the newsletter project is going to be bittersweet. I really like the chance to sink my teeth into something creative, but I work best alone, not in a group. There are not even enough people in my class to make even groups (I don't actually remember) but that is just fine with me. I tend to have big ideas and like to take creative license. I really do think it will be entertaining though. I cannot wait for this weekend! The dance is going to be an absolute blast!

Speaking of creativity, check out this video that was put together using parts of Pirates of the Carribean.

Intellectual

I love to think. Not by force though, by will. Some things just do not interest me and it makes it difficult for me to study sometimes. For example, math is really hard for me to grasp. I like answers that have a greay area, somewhere that gives you room to explain more than one answer and have it be correct. math is just so black and white. It is a personal preference I suppose. Anyway, I really like literature. It is one of my best subjects and I think it can be really fun to just write or learn about how to do so properly. As one of my goals thus year, I was to do better in my literature class than in any other subject.

Word of the Day?
edify \ED-uh-fy\,
transitive verb:To instruct and improve, especially in moral and religious knowledge; to teach.

tintinnabulation

Are you confused? Honestly, I don't find that suprising. I didn't know what that word meant until today because it is Dictionary.com's Word of the day. It means "A tinkling sound, as of a bell or bells." I found the word amusing so I decided to use it for this blog's title. It's amazing how many words are out there that many people do not know. Education is extremely important. Sure, one doesn't have to memorize the didcionary, but one should learn something new everyday, should they not? I try to, although not always succeeding. What have you learned today that was new? Was it anythingh of great interest, or just something you had to write for class? Find joy in some form of education and feed off of it regularly. Learning doesn't have to be boring. =]

Powerpoint?

I really like working with Powerpoint. Creative work aalways gives me intrest because I have an artistic mind and I am able to express myself quite freely within these sorts of projects. it is also comforting to know that everyone has a common subject to work upon: the Saints. I chose St. Cecilia. She is my Confirmation saint and the patroness of music, musicians, and vocalists. It is said that even as she was being executed (be beheading) that she was singing for the Glory of God.

Emotional Growth

"Peoria Notre Dame High School, a Roman Catholic School under the pastoral direction of the Bishop of Peoria, provides Catholic secondary education for the Peoria area.
The purpose of Peoria Notre Dame High School is to nurture spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development:
By teaching the Catholic faith
By leading students to be disciples of Jesus Christ
By teaching the arts and sciences in a climate of academic inquiry"

This is the mission statement for Peoria Notre Dame. This statement provides a lot of food for thought. it also prevokes many emotions. It gives me great joy that I am able to learn about my faith in a Catholic school. It will help me grow as a person and help me in the long run of my life. I also hope that thriough the academic nurturing I will gain a promising future for myself.

Yes, No, Maybe So?

Hmm...well I'm not exactly sure of when the next blog is due (oops) but I heard some mutterings in class and I thought just to be safe I better add another update. Well not much is going on over here other than the musical that i am in currently (HSM2 at Eastlight Theatre, call 699-SHOW for tickets now through Saturday). This show is eating away at my sanity and time, plus my social life. Well, actually I have lots of friends in it, but I cannot do anything outside of it. Tonight one of my friends showed me how to tie a tie, and for some reason that makes me really happy. I have downloaded some pictures onto my flash drive for the keynote project, so I hope that works tomorrow on the project...Anyway for the sake of expanding everyone's vocabulary let's move on to the word of the day:

torrid \TOR-uhd\, adjective:
1. Violenty hot; drying or scorching with heat; burning; parching; as, "torrid heat."
2. Characterized by intense emotion; as, "a torrid love affair."
3. Emotionally charged and vigorously energetic; as, "a torrid dance."

Day Number 2

I'm back! today I have decided to add a video as well as a word of the day. Maybe it'll just be for this post...who knows? This particular video is from the Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde. It is called 'In His Eyes' and is sung by two women who are in love with the same man, only they have never met. One is his wealthy, betrothed fiancee, and the other is a poor, battered, yet strong woman whom he has recently befrended.

And the word of the day is...

bevy \BEV-ee\,
noun:1. A group; an assembly or collection.
2. A flock of birds, especially quails or larks; also, a herd of roes.

So this is Blogging?

Ugh. I can't believe that my first blogging assignment is LATE!!! I have a reason though: I was at rehearsal for a production at Eastlight Theatre.

Anyway, I am a sophomore in high school and this blog is an assignment for our technology class. I really like the class. It is enjoyable, but kind of hard to follow since I'm not fimiliar with Mac computers. I think I am going to like this blog thing though...the creativity gives me a rush. The computers are really nice and I think I'll get the hang of everything eventually. Just for the sake of sharing and having something fun, I'm putting the "Word of the Day" from Dictionary.com on here everytime I post. Enjoy!

immolate \IM-uh-layt\,
transitive verb:
1. To sacrifice; to offer in sacrifice; to kill as a sacrificial victim.
2. To kill or destroy, often by fire.

Well isn't that a cheery first word...
